RF Power Amplifier Design

The design of power amplifiers for wireless systems for both mobile and fixed applications requires specialized design techniques.

114Advanced RF Power Amplifier Techniques
This is an advanced level 4 day RF design course, dealing with the theory and design of RF power amplifiers for wireless, satcom, and microwave applications . The course features in-depth treatment of PA design, PA modes, envelope power management and circuit level linearisation techniques.

Course 114-4241:Dec 06-Dec 09, 2010: San Jose, CA Presented by Steve Cripps Register by 11/1/2010 and pay $1995, otherwise pay $2195

108Ultra Linear High Efficiency Power Amplifier Design
This five-day course presents the latest design techniques for ultra linear, high efficiency power amplifiers. The first three days cover high efficiency power amplifier design techniques, similar to the "Designing Highly Efficient Power Amplifiers" course, while the last two days focus on the design of linear power amplifier systems.

Course 108-4281:Oct 18-Oct 22, 2010: Greenbelt, MD Presented by Ed Niehenke Register by 9/13/2010 and pay $1995, otherwise pay $2195

216Power Amplifier ABC's
This course covers the fundamental principles of RF power amplifier design in the shortest possible time.

Course 216-4326:Sep 13-Sep 17, 2010: Web Classroom, WebEx Presented by Allen Podell Register by 9/7/2010 and pay $449, otherwise pay $495

212RF Power Amplifier Linearization and Modeling Techniques for Modern Communication Systems
This course takes a "system-level" approach to the linearization and behavioural modeling of RF Power Amplifiers. Special emphasis is given to a detailed treatment of PA modeling, both as a means of allowing more meaningful system level simulations, and also as a necessary starting point to the development of advanced predistortion algorithms for PA linearization.
211Wideband/HF Amplifier Design Techniques (Web Classroom)
Wideband amplifiers typically have bandwidths of DC to multi-GHz while maintaining a good step response (MFED). This course uses simplified models to develop the theory needed to understand and develop such circuits. This course outline has been optimized for presentation in our web classroom format using ten 90-minute web conferencing sessions over two weeks.
202Wideband/HF Amplifier Design Techniques

148Designing High Efficiency RF Power Amplifiers
This three-day course presents the latest design techniques for high efficiency power amplifiers. The power amplifier's non-linearities and their effect on system performance will be shown for various classes of power amplification and for numerous digital and analog signals including optimum transistor selection. Amplifier distortion techniques for high efficiency will be investigated will full and reduced output power. CAD analysis for high efficiency and yield for BJT, and FET power amplifiers will be presented.

Course 148-4337:Feb 28-Mar 02, 2011: San Diego, CA Presented by Ed Niehenke Register by 1/24/2011 and pay $1395, otherwise pay $1495

003Applied RF Techniques II
This five-day course provides participants with an overview of the types and characteristics of receivers, large signal power amplifiers, oscillators, and mixers. Approximately 2 days are devoted to the power amplifier discussion. For each of the major topic areas, participants learn the underlying theory of operation, design techniques, operational and performance parameters. Design tradeoffs, linearization, and efficiency enhancement techniques of nonlinear circuits are presented.
086Applied RF II: Advanced Wireless and Microwave Techniques
This five-day course provides participants with an in-depth examination of advanced RF and microwave design techniques. Approximately 1.5 days are dedicated to the power amplifier discussion. Antennas and filters are covered briefly, followed by a detailed discussion of figures of merit. Mixers and oscillator designs are also evaluated. Considerable attention is devoted to defining, classifying, and improving the efficiency and linearity of power amplifiers. Numerous design examples are provided for participant exploration.
